The Tour de France is in full swing, but have you heard of the Tour of Britain?
This September and October we will see the professional peloton in the UK with the men racing from Sun, 5 Sept 2021 to Sun, 12 Sept 2021 and the women from Mon, 4 Oct 2021 to Sat, 9 Oct to give us 2 thrilling weeks of intense racing. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the 2020 edition of these stage races across Britain were cancelled and so we wait with even more anticipation.
Riders such as Bradley Wiggins, Steve Cummings and the current world champion Julian Alaphilippe have all taken home the victor’s green jersey and this edition is bound to have some big names.

It just so happens that Deets is available for the the final few stages of the men’s race and the entirety of the women’s!!
For our own bike adventures we fitted Deets with her new bike rack that can take any 2 bikes, including e-bikes. The rack is easy to use and has a swinging function to allow access to the rear doors of the van. As cyclist enthusiasts ourselves, we know and love the incredible atmosphere of standing at the side of the road as the caravan of team cars and support vehicles rush by, clearing the road for the pros. And then the breakaway of 5 or 6 riders, who have been struggling for a 100k, speed past as the peloton bares down on them.
If you want to book Deets and follow these races, you can do so via our Quirky Campers profile page
We will be posting articles on the stages of the Tour of Britain, as well as our recommendations on where to park and watch the racing. So watch this space.
